Dr. Rao Gutta joins Methodist Physicians Clinic's vascular surgery team

Published: April 21, 2025

Rao Gutta, MD, a vascular surgeon with Methodist Physicians Clinic, was drawn toward vascular surgery because the variety of patients he’s able to treat.

“We do operations to help people with their legs to increase their circulation. We fix aneurysms. We help prevent strokes. It just runs the gamut,” he said. “Some of the cases are more routine than others, and some are really complicated.”

Dr. Gutta especially enjoys the patient interactions he’s able to have – whether that’s in the operating room or clinic.

“Vascular surgery is unique compared to other surgical specialties because we have a lot more long-term patients,” he said.

He believes that the most important part of the patient-provider relationship is trust, which is built with honesty, integrity and compassion, he said. He also believes that The Meaning of Care requires an individualized approach.

“Sometimes you have to explain things different ways to different people,” Dr. Gutta said. “It’s something I’m always working to improve.”

Outside of work, Dr. Gutta enjoys traveling with his family, golfing and running.
